Here at KANE, we like to think that we are more than just an electronics manufacturer. Behind the brand we are all human and we care about things around us; the people who work here, their families, our local community, the environment and much more.
We are always looking at ways to help causes, so have decided to support three charities.
We have financially supported charities in the past and have had the odd employee raising money for a sponsored walk etc. but going forward we have made a conscious decision to offer a bit more than financial support from afar, we have decided to get the whole company involved in the process – and have elected a charity committee. The committee is devised of people from different divisions within the company and they meet once a quarter to brainstorm ideas; things such as awareness campaigns and alternate fundraising ideas.
Last month, all KANE employees nominated a charity close to their heart, these nominees were shortlisted and, after a company-wide vote, we whittled it down to three charities. They are as follows:
CALM - Campaign Against Living Miserably
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day.
We do realise that the heating industry can be a lonely place, but with CALM there is always someone to talk to. They run a free and confidential helpline and webchat – 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems.
Macmillan are here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.

Essex and Herts Air Ambulance
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS); providing a free life-saving service for Essex, Herts and surrounding areas. Specialist Pre-Hospital Care Doctors and Critical Care Paramedics can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment and the patient, following assessment, will be flown to an appropriate hospital.
With one of our sites being based in Hertfordshire and a KANE employees’ partner working for the service, it is a charity close to our heart. They solely rely on donations, and have a monthly cost of around £750,000 to keep the helicopter in the air and saving lives.
